About Kalampukattu

Kalampukattu is a 500 years old family located in the serene and scenic Mannanam village in Kottayam District of Kerala, India. This family is said to have been originated when an old brahmin lady had fled the Malabar area during the invasion of Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore in 1790s. She is said to have carried all her belongings and reached the area of Mannanam-Kudamallor area in Kottayam. She got settled in the banks of a river in this area. The present Tharavad(ancestral house) was established in the early 19th century. The Kudamalloor krishna temple is said to be the family deity. The area around the temple is still known as Kalampukattu parambu or land of kalampukattu.
